Interesting article……

…..I’m not surprised!

Most adults believe smacking is an acceptable way to discipline children, according to a new survey. The figure was higher among adults without their own families, 80 per cent of whom said they would support smacking as a punishment if necessary.

Check this link:

http://lifestyle.aol.co.uk/most-think-its-ok-to-smack/article/20060920070309990001

The Bible says: He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him - Proverbs 13: 24

The issue for me is that some groups have jumped on a bandwagon of no smacking as protection to children. I fully support organisations like the NSPCC who care for and protect children however, I fully support parents who smack their children in a way that is not beating a child up or done in anger but rather in a loving and appropriate way. I remember hearing someone speak once about using something to smack with rather than your hand as a hand should always be a sign of love and not of hurt or pain.

Maybe it’s just me but I really sense that people are starting to realise that we are missing something in these days and are speaking out more readily  - they probably don’t realise it but the thing we are missing is God! His ways are the best ways!

Many Britons would give up favourite things, including sex, to reach 100 years of age, a poll suggests.

Some 40% said they would give up sex - half of women and a third of men - 39% food and drinks and 42% travel. But the Bupa survey of 1,003 people found 94% would not give up the company of family and friends and three quarters would not sacrifice money.

So, surely people should realise that with Jesus you can be assured of life forever (eternal life) starting from the moment you decide to become His follower (a Christian). The truth is that we can live here on earth and enjoy life to the full -  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full’ John 10vs 10 The Bible

Then we can live with God in Heaven WITHOUT pain, sorrow, depression, money worries, relationship problems, concerns, fashion issues, debt, illness etc etc etc.

The Bible also says - ”Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or-worse!-stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” Matthew 6 vs 19-21 The Bible (Message)

Common sense. Choose life - Choose Jesus.

COME ON!!

Interesting response…..

….to the Pope’s comments.

Muslims protest outside Westminster cathedral

Surely, Islam is not doing itslef a favour in being so blunt in its response.

The Pope stirs up trouble….

…among Muslims.

Speaking in Germany on Thursday, the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said the Prophet Muhammad had brought the world only “evil and inhuman” things. …..eek!

Check out  -  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/5348456.stm

Well, I am thinking that Pope Benedict XVI is making ein grosse mistake, however, what I do find interesting are the images of Mulsims around the world protesting, in ways that could easily be deemed to be verging on violent! Are they not simply going about it the wrong way? Surely if Islam is a peaceful religion, why don’t the protesters protest in a peaceful way?

I’m just asking the question?

Also, I found the following image on a German youth church site which I thought was kind of ‘groovy’. A new depiction of the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci which I guess is asking what would it look like if this all happened today?

Nice!

The Hoff…..

….follow the following link to try to get him to number 1.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/scottmills/feature_hoff.shtml

Among our young people and many others you speak to, there is a weird, sometimes strange liking for the Hoff (David Hasselhoff). I don’t think it’s that he can sing or that he particularly ‘cool’ but there is an element of fun in, at least pretending, to enjoy his talents. ….don’t forget, he single-handedly brought down the Berlin Wall…..well maybe not!

Anyway, follow the link and see what you think….you can even see the video (lol!)
